SOE Development & Deployment
SOE development and deployment turns a fleet of individually configured machines into one manageable estate. A Standard Operating Environment defines the approved build: operating system, applications, security settings and policies, so every device behaves the same way in every branch, store and office.
IMI Solutions develops SOEs and deploys them at national scale. Devices are imaged and configured in secure build environments at our Sydney and Melbourne integration centres, then rolled out across Australia and New Zealand by our own field teams. One build, hundreds of sites, identical results.
Why an SOE pays for itself
Support gets faster. Every service desk call starts from a known state. Diagnosis time drops when there is one build to reason about instead of four hundred.
Security gets provable. Patching, hardening and configuration baselines apply fleet-wide. Auditors get an artefact, not an assurance.
Deployment gets cheap. New devices image in minutes and work on arrival. Replacements swap like-for-like without an engineer improvising on site.
Users get consistency. Staff moving between sites find the same environment everywhere, which quietly removes a whole category of tickets.
What we do
SOE development
We design and build the standard image with your team: OS baseline, application packaging, drivers per hardware model, security policies and compliance settings. Windows 11 SOEs are the bulk of current work as organisations complete the migration off Windows 10 before Extended Security Updates end in October 2026.
Imaging at scale
Your devices arrive at our integration centres, get logged into IMX serial-by-serial, imaged in segregated build environments, asset-tagged, kitted per site and dispatched deployment-ready. Vendor-agnostic across Dell, HP, Lenovo and the rest.
Nationwide desktop rollout
Field crews deliver, install, migrate data where required, and validate each device against the SOE checklist. Old units return through reverse logistics for wiping and remarketing.
Lifecycle upkeep
SOEs decay without ownership. We maintain the build through driver updates, application versions and hardware model changes, so device 4,000 images as cleanly as device 1.
A typical engagement
A 150-branch organisation refreshing its desktop fleet: SOE developed and piloted in four weeks, imaging line running at hundreds of devices a week, field rollout in geographic waves, every branch cut over without a lost trading day. The multi-site deployment method does the heavy lifting; the SOE guarantees what lands on each desk.
Frequently asked questions
Can you modernise an old SOE rather than start again?
Yes. We audit the current build, keep what works, and re-engineer the rest, usually as part of a Windows 11 uplift.
Do you handle application packaging?
Yes, including testing across your hardware models and documenting each package.
How does imaging at your facility beat imaging on site?
Controlled environment, parallel benches, quality gates and no site downtime. On-site imaging turns every branch into a temporary workshop.
Autopilot and modern provisioning, or traditional imaging?
Either, or a hybrid. Many fleets pair cloud enrolment with physical staging for peripherals, asset tagging and kitting.
